From looking at the large volume of posts without any resolution, you
gave me the impression you were experiencing a considerable amount of
agggravation. Perhaps I shouldn't have assumed that; perhaps you see
this as more of a learning exercise.
That being said, you would no longer be experiencing this issue had you
bitten the bullet and performed a Clean Install. I still think John's
suggestion is a valid one.
What exactly is your PC's problem? This thread is not easy to follow! It
seemed you were mucking around in the Windows folder and didn't like
what you saw. But are there any actual performance issues? Which drivers
are not loading?
Where did you get this idea that "too much formatting can damage your
hard drive"?
