I've tried that and it does work, but it's noticeably slower that a real
nntp server feed. One thing that I would like to see added to it is the
ability to start when Windows starts and log on automatically. I can't
count the number of times I started up Thunderbird and forgot to start
the NNTP Bridge program.

People like Alias have nothing to do with it actually. Its more to do
with the idiots that don't have the common sense to ignore his troll
ass. However, its easier to say this is the reason, make it sound good.

Basically, most people that use Windows probably aren't amrt enough to
figure out how to access a newsgroup. It requires things like typing,
and stuff. Web-based forums are easy, they just "click here". Just look
at the posts on those forums to get an idea of what I mean.

Can you configure each of the local "news servers" to use a different
port for your local access?

They are doing it because of idiots like yourself who pollute the forums

Usenet, as a whole has grown, and is still growing explosively,
mostly due to the binary groups.

http://www.newsdemon.com/average_feed_size.php ......

......Shows a full feed is up over 6TB *A DAY* now.

I couldn't find anything specifically related to text-only
groups, and obviously it's a small fraction of the total, but
has it decreased over time ?

No, they're not. Most Windows users have never heard of Usenet or Usenet
trolls like you who only lies and spreads FUD and never helps anyone. If
I were polite and went on their web forums and mentioned Ubuntu, the
only people who would have a hissy fit would be you and your low life
buddy Frank.

So true, Many of the ng's I used to enjoy like alt.comp.freeware and others
have been taken over by the trolls. This ng seems headed in the same
direction. I don't find much useful information here on Windows 7. I guess
moderated forums are the only way to go if you are searching for
information. After a lot of the good newsgroups are gone, the trolls will be
all alone and can masturbate to their egos together.

Usenet and Microsoft Public are not the same things. Usenet isn't going
anywhere and if you look at the web based Microsoft forums, there are
plenty of idiots there along with trolls so your whole post is BULLSHIT.

Most Windows users don't want anything to do with Ubuntu regardless of which
forum they are in. If you keep posting the crap you post about Ubuntu, they
will kick your sorry ass out! Better go to plan B. Take 100,000 Ubuntu
CD's and travel Africa, trying to get converts to that crappy OS you love so
much. Maybe you can get another 50 users! HA HA HA HA.

Not true. Most Windows users don't even know what flavor of Windows
they're using, much less what Ubuntu is.

Now you think you speak for Microsoft?

Um, I'm not trying to get more users. I don't CARE what the user share
is for an operating system.
