The program's own recommendations (included in 2007 help) basically cover
anything but volume licensing and special programs such as Home User
Program (HUP) & Employee Purchase Program (EPP) -
even though the Office 2010 help does have a reference to volume licensing,
it's limited as well, and would not have been of use to you -
Quoting Office 2010 help -
"Activation Center numbers are not listed in this article, because there
are many numbers, and the correct number for you is based on several
factors. Microsoft software can be obtained under various licenses,
including individual retail licenses, original equipment manufacturer (OEM)
licenses, and volume licenses. Telephone numbers vary by product license
and country/region."
The 2007 help file does not even include that much information - so
referring to help for your particular need would not be covered.
your research - finding the Product Activation Center listing - and with
the proper sign in or proper company credentials finally gave you the
result you needed.
OK, well all this is fresh in your mind - I'd suggest - burn your office
suite to DVD (if you don't have a physical DVD already) and store your key
with it, and keep good track of it.
Many are crying today, because they can't find install disks or keys from
years ago!
