Google search on the desktop

Google has a desktop search tool in beta. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work on my Tablet. It complains that there’s a conflict with Windows Firewall Client and a couple other dlls. No time to track this down right now, although the app did redirect me to a page that suggests I can do an uninstall, upgrade, re-install. Hmm. I need to read more before going down this road. I don’t want to mess up my system.

  1. Steven, thanks. Yeah, I run Lookout on my Tablet PC. Seems to work well.

    I gave up on installing the Google Desktop search on my Tablet—too much development stuff to be concerned about. I was able to install it on another Tablet and it works OK. To search the desktop you can click on a “Desktop” link on the Google page. And sure enough it finds stuff fast. The results are displayed Google-style in the browser. I’m not sure if it’s optimal or not. Still learning.
