Politico states that “Senate sources are warning that the upper chamber will not take up a House-amended bill”.
After a republican conference meeting ended earlier today, Cantor went on record as not supporting the bill. This also parallels more trouble for the bill in which the CBO reported the Senate compromise would increase the federal deficit by $3.9 trillion over 10 years.
A Senate Democratic aide told NBC News “There is no time left to ping-pong proposals. The speaker was kept appraised throughout the negotiations. If House Republicans mess with this agreement that got 88 votes in the Senate, they will be solely responsible for the largest tax hike in American history.”
