The Red Herring is reporting that MIT’s Media Lab leader is working on a $100 portable computer for emerging markets. The current design skeleton looks like this: a 14-inch color screen, AMD chips, and Linux software. The inexpensive computers will be intended for the education market. The first ones are intended for China. The goal is to develop a computer and software that can replace the standard textbooks.
I wonder if this will have any relation to the AMD Personal Internet Communicator?
