P™ and C™ were from the Half-way house – an adoption center for dogs. After C™ died the day after Thanksgiving, I vowed never to adopt another dog. It hurt to lose C™. Alas, While P™ and I were out today looking at puppies, this young lady was hiding in her cage. P™ eyed her immediately. I wanted a puppy but P™ had other ideas.
This young lady (a Great Pyrenees mix weighing around 50 pounds) was adopted as a puppy 10 months ago. Unfortunately, the owners were not kind to her and she was returned to the adoption center about two weeks ago. She was once a playful puppy – only to hide and cower as people walked past. They explained they couldn’t get her out of the cage. When P™ and I walked past her, she was curled up with her nose facing the front. She gave all of her attention to P™. They went on several walks together – and for the first time since she was returned her tail was not between her legs. The volunteers said it was amazing.
To our surprise and gratitude, the people from the adoption center gave us this young lady. And P™ has been quite thrilled. They spent a long time outside – running – running – and running. Both came inside to eat large bowls of dinner – only to have this youth leave a pile of interest next to my bed and a little liquid to compliment the package. No – she isn’t house broken. But P™ has shown her how to go in and out the dog door. Both took a short hour long nap – to re-energize their batteries – they are downstairs playing.
So – we are in search of a good name. Any suggestions for this young lady?
