Gates Speaks at MIX06

I’m in Las Vegas at MIX06, a 72 hour conversation (in conference halls with about 1500 people; if last night is a fair indication, this format of easy mixing among MS staff and attendees works to the benefit of everyone).

I wonder how many educators are here?

Bill Gates speaks live from MIX06 about Microsoft’s Web platforms and strategy.

Watch for him to talk about the new ultra mobile PC codenamed Origami. Loren and Lora will report details of what they see and hear from inside the conference hall.

Lora and Michelle are introducing people to six Origamis on two tables in the “Sandbox” area of a meeting hall. People seem to enjoy using these UMPCs and asking questions. (And the security guards watch every move closely of each person near a UMPC; these are big guys! I doubt if anyone trys anything funny with these engineering samples.)

The only other person I recognized heree so far is Robert Scoble; he’ll probably blog from here also.

Bill will also describe how software is transforming the way companies interact with business customers, both through next generation Web experiences and beyond the browser. He will also highlight how industry leaders are harnessing the latest Microsoft technologies to improve the online customer experience.

Wish you were hear, Teacher.
