Every time I turn around it seems that Yahoo is purchasing another company or adding a new service. This time around Yahoo is announcing that they will be offering MovableType. Excellent idea.
Just this past week I was talking with a small business person that wanted to start a blog and was asking me for suggestions. Now I have a recommendation. Hosting services need to offer blog content management systems. Good to see that Yahoo is offering this.
One request I have though: Please, Yahoo, leverage your infrastructure to help filter out comment spam. If more hosting services provide this feature, the days of individuals hosting their own blogs will fade away. The only other hope would be for a community-based spam detection and blocking service and from what I can see I doubt this would be effective enough.
