Theme Work

The Tux Reports Child theme has been activated tonight after trying to use a different theme on the front blog of the network for the past few months.

The Gavick Pro News theme is a gorgeous theme with an excellent widget for pulling stories from all over the network. Sadly, the look and feel of the front page was not matching the rest of the network. The decision was made to return to the default theme so time could be spent fixing the main navigation and widgets.

In turn the GK News Show Pro widget was activated and configuration started. Not all of the features are available in the free plugin version versus the News theme but the latest posts are pulled properly from different blogs on the network.

The GK News Show Pro widget pulls the latest news articles from different blogs. The widget is updated and available for download on Github.

Additionally, the symple shortcodes plugin was network activated.

This symple shortcodes plugin features tabs, accordions, boxes, highlights, and more.

This plugin was added to spice up some of the article postings and to expanding testing with XenWord. Initial tests brought out two suggestions for the XenWord bridge. First, the excerpt feature of the bridge needs options such as using the WP excerpt. Second, the shortcodes show in the XenForo thread and need to be stripped out.
