Target Data Theft Greater Than Initially Thought

Target ended the final quarter of the 2013 year with the worst possible business scenario – a security breach believed to have leaked information for over 40 million customers. This number turned out to be a low number.

Target revealed today that their ongoing investigation suggests information for over 70 million customers was stolen.

At this time, the investigation has determined that the stolen information includes names, mailing addresses, phone numbers or email addresses for up to 70 million individuals.

Target included in the press release that they will cover credit monitoring for customers. Customers have three months to enroll in the program and should check the Target site.
