Wishlist from a Engineering department University Student

Hi. I just installed OneNote and I think it is a great tool. However it
really isn't for engineer students. So, Microsoft here is my wishlist;

1- Engineer students need to quickly add equations and graphs. Onenote
definitely needs a way to add equations. And it should be done in some sort
of quick hand way. A good example is OpenOffice's equation input style which
is almost like coding if I enter "2 over 3" I literally get ;

That way I don't loose time when the prof is writing the equation in light
speed. I just write the equation as he reads it and voila!. I bet my future
money that Microsoft has the brain power to cook up even a more efficient way
to enter equations.

2- Charts from tables. Many times during lab experiments I needed a quick
way to add videos, notes, tables and charts in a single document. Onenote is
great tool for this. Just click on video and point your webcam to your
experiment. Add the data to the tables and take notes... But something was
missing! Charts! I really wanted to just simply click on the table and say
create chart for this data. But no such luck. This will really be a great
functionality for OneNote.

3- The other thing is for videos. Even though I can quickly add videos I
really don't like the way it looks like. I mean why should I just see a
flimsy windows video icon? Can't I change that Icon to a screenshot of the
video? And Why can't I simply play it in the Onenote page like in web pages.
Basically OneNote needs a embedded player. That functionality would just be
great.

4- Adding tags for blog posts. Even though I can choose categories I can't
add tags. Adding tags would be great.

So above I have my wish list. I tried Beta 2010 and I couldn't find anything
related to the above great options. I hope Microsoft would read what engineer
students need for a better and more efficient OneNote.

P.S. If can do anything already in 2007 OneNote please tell me how!

For 1 above, if you don't like the equation editor in the OneNote 2010 Beta,
there is an addin that gives you TeX support for 2007:

I have not tried it so I do not know how it works.

For me, I prefer a tablet to simply write the equations. I don't usually
know what I will learn in a class (that's why I'm taking the class) so I
probably won't know what equation constructs to use beforehand...

The other ideas are interesting.
