Windows updates

Windows informs me when an update is available. However, it does not seem
possible to download it and save it (eg to the desktop )without installing
automatically at time of download.

I assume that there is a way of downloading the file(s) without installing.
I already have "Download updates but let me choose whether to install them"
selected in Windows Update | Change Settings.

One way I know is to note the update KB number without installing it, go to
the Microsost site and do a search with the KBnumber; this should take you
to a site where you can download an installation file.

Yes, thanks. I have used this in the past (XP) but had hoped that there
might have been a right-click shortcut in W7.
