VERY Strange IE6 problem...

M

Mr. Sandog

I tried upgrading IE6 to IE7, then immediately reverted back because
of the stupid static button placements.

Now, I have a REALLY weird issue - I type an address into IE6's
address bar, hit ENTER, then my FIREFOX browser goes to the address I
just typed into IE6's address bar!!!

If I close Firefox and do the same thing, Firefox will open, then go
to the URL I just typed into IE6's address bar.

WTF, over???

Are you running WinXP SP2 or SP3?

Is Internet Explorer selected as your default Browser in the CUSTOM section
of Set Program Access and Computer Defaults?

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)? Were any of these applications running
in the background when you installed and/or uninstalled IE7?

Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the
computer (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought
it)?

So you are choosing INSECURITY over some minor temporary annoyances of
button placements?

JEEEEEZE! No wonder the internet is awash with viruses when there are people
as stupid as you...

Guys!

Please don't be derogatory. You would not like it yourself.

Regards.

Nothing to do with being derogatory - just plain irritation at the
consummate lack of understanding of computer security.....

When "rob^_^" uses "derogatory" he's kind! :
Some of us, internet users (especially those who visit pages with foreign
languages written right-to-eft), just have no choice because
website-developers do not care to check whether their nice pages fuction
correctly when opened with browsers other than IE, likewise the browsers'
developers do not perform enough checks.
In the mean time, while waiting for better browsers and better pages, let's
all cool down and unite forces and help each other.
Thanks
