Single keystroke issue

Since upgrading from IE7 to IE8, I have lost the capability in the
right-click menu to hhit a single key to perform a function. For example,
right click a "favorite" and hit "m" to rename, or hit "d" to delete.
Instead, now have to mouse over the command to perform. Also, the shortcut
keyletter used to be underlined in IE7, now nothing underlined.

I'm sure it is something simple, but I haven't been able to find the answer
yet.

TIA

Hi Ferret,

They changed the way the Favorites Pane and Links toolbar work in IE8.

What was your Links Toolbar is now your Favorites Bar in IE8. The context
menu for both the Favorites pane and Favorites Bar has changed also (to
remove some of the functions that connected the browser to your computers
local file system... for security reasons)

You can Delete an Item/Folder from either by just pressing your Delete
Key...

But, try this trick to manage your Favorites (Internet Shortcuts)

type

shell:favorites in your IE address bar an press enter. This will open up
your 'classic' Favorites Folder view in Windows Explorer. All of your
context menus that you are used to will still work here. You can also select
multiple shortcuts and open them with one click (which you can't from the IE
Favorites Pane) and it is a lot easier to drag and drop to add or move your
saved Internet Shortcuts.

To display your Classic Links Folder by the same method, type
shell:favorites\links in your IE address bar and press enter.

You can also just add the Favorites and Links folders to your Windows Task
bar and manage them from there(the old context menus still work there also).

Disclaimer: Favorites means Internet Shortcut Favorites as viewed in the
IE(all versions) Favorites Pane/Center, not Win7 Favorite Libraries.

Regards.
