Yes, absolutely. It can take less than a minute (a New York minute) for
an unprotected computer to be infected. If your computer was unprotected
for longer than that while connected to the internet...say a few
hours...it is possibly beyond repair (meaning you'll have to erase your
hard drive and start over).
Disconnect your computer from the internet and show your computer to a
professional ASAP.
