To be completely accurate, Alias never told anyone to read

I had an interest, and hadn't seen it before. And actually,
I'm sure almost none of the regular readers of this group had
seen it either. I had no idea a suit was filed, or that it
went to court. Not everyone subscribes to the ZDNet, PCthis,
PCthat, Computerworld, etc. newsfeeds.
You don't find it interesting that a company accusing other
companies, and suing other companies, of infringing on their
IP, does so themselves ?
My personal beliefs are that handing out patents for computer
related items at this stage in the game, unless it's a *truly*
revolutionary thing, are out of control.
Yes, I understand companies should get rewarded for what they
have developed, and I'm not saying they shouldn't, but come
on, some of these things are utterly ridiculous.....
.....for instance, U.S. patent 7,617,530, recently procured by
MS.
This patent somehow covers a Window that pops up with User
names that have Admin privileges. You need to do a task under
standard type user, UAC would kick in and show you a window of
all user names that have the req'd privileges for the task,
and you would pick it in the window.

What a joke. It's nothing more than a basic lookup table, that
has been used in thousands of applications for decades, but
the data is usernames from the system user database, instead
of data from an application database.
