Lost spellchecker in IE8

Recently I reset Internet Explorer 8 because I was having issues with error
messages on various websites, etc. Since then the spellchecker squiggly
underline that appeared whenever I misspelled a word on any web page has
disappeared. I do not know what application was doing the spellchecking as
I didn't install anything in particular except Google Toolbar which I still
have. The spellchecker was very handy, and seemed to work on any web form,
highlighting any words that were spelled wrong. Does anyone have any idea
what application was doing it, and how I can return the functionality?

Could it have been IE7Pro? Or ieSpell?

Also check the Google Toolbar options, you may need to reinstall it.

This isn't an IE8 problem though - it doesn't have a built-in spell checker.

Not an issue with Internet Explorer which has never had a spellchecker.
You'll have to discuss the problem with whomever's add-on you installed.
You DID install something more into IE than just the Google Toolbar, or it's
the Google Toolbar's spellchecker that isn't working.

WinXP SP3 32-bit.
I haven't installed any other spellchecker add-ons. If I put something in a
web form box, and click on the Google Toolbar 'abc Check" button it will
highlight errors in bold red, but before it was underlining with the
squiggly line without my starting any spelling utility. It looked as though
Word was doing it.
If it isn't IE8 and isn't Google Toolbar, I wish I knew what it was before
it disappeared. Too bad IE doesn't have a native spellcheck, using the Word
Processing dictionary or something.

Sounds like the Google Toolbar tool called Spell Check.

I don't recall ever seeing a "squiggly underline". What I see is the
misspelled words are underlined and highlighted in red. I am using version
6.4 with IE8 and it works fine.

Go to Adjust Toolbar Options (the wrench icon) and select OPTIONS from the
drop-down menu. Then select TOOLS in the left pane.

The IE7Pro spellchecker adds a red squiggly line under misspelled words. You
may have installed that, or installed something else that included IESpell
(which is the spelling part of IE7Pro) as an extra.

I have inernet explorer 8.0 provided by AT&T, and had always had the Google Tool Bar, which included ABC spell check. I noticed just a few weeks ago that the Google Tool Bar disappeared. I didn't think much of it, and added "Google" to my "Favorites tool bar." It was only when I started replying to e-mails that I realized I didn't have ABC spell check any more.

Today I'm looking to re-add the Google Tool Bar.

To all: I have been running Windows and I.E. for a lot of years. I
upgrade with each new version. Currently I've been running I.E. 8 and
Vista Home Premium on my HP Laptop Gamer. I downloaded Spell Checker,
the one that was ABC and checkmark, and installed it on this computer
last August (2009). It just disappeared about one hour ago. I need it
as I am a copy editor/researcher/writer (sorta on that last one).)
How can I get it back? I lean on it all the time. I tend toward always
being "perfect" in any sort of paper I edit, proof, write. Cannot
tolerate mispellings. I even read newspaper and books as though I had
been asked to proof them. That's really bad, huh?)

You need to go to the company that developed the spell checker and ask
them - it's not part of IE
