Lesson Bulk Index (LBI)

Robert Heiny

Research Scientist of Learning and Education

Index of Bulk in Lessons

This is the first draft of a Lesson Bulk Index (LBI). It's a way to compare relationships among instruction, time and lessons. It is to lessons as Body Mass Index (BMI) is to health.

It shows that the more bulk (non-nutritious talk, visuals, interactions) in a lesson, the less likely the lesson will result in all learners demonstrating that they learn the essential academic point presented in the lesson. LBI shows comparisons demonstrated in results among experimental empirical behavioral research studies.

The math in LBI serves as a placeholder for future refinement.
