I know many chemistry students who start the year saying they can't do chemistry. They lack confidence. But this doesn't mean a teacher needs to fill the student with false hope. No. Instead the teachers must focus the student to success.
Here is another quote to put this idea in perspective.
The will to win is important, but the will to prepare is vital.
In other words, the teacher helps the student prepare. In turn, the student learns and gains confidence.
