How do I add files to Start->All Programs?

[Al Dykes]

I have several utilities that are little more than a .exe file and I
want to add shortcuts to them to Start->All Programs. When I make a
shortcut and try to drag it to the right folder it's protected. That's
not a bad thing but how for I accomplish my task?

You should be able to drag the shortcut onto the Start orb and then
onto the All Programs menu.

Tried the same over here. I just right-clicked on the it/the folder and
Open/Open All Users, and put the shortcut in there.

Sure. When you right-click on the Start button or folder you that seems
to be protected, you either have an option to "Open" or "Open All Users"
in the context menu. Try to drop your shortcuts in the new window.
Worked for me, at least.

If you right click on a .exe, one of the options is 'pin to start menu'.
You might not need admin privilege to do that, I am not sure.
