Just tried to install some application written seems in VB, setup fails, and
I decided not to install.
I tracked installation with InCtrl5 utility (Registry and Windows),
installation report show the following keys and files was added, amongst
other stuff:

Can I safely remove this 6 files added? Or program replaced existing windows
VB file with old vers?

Do a backup and try it; looks like it -might- work if the report is
complete.
In the future you'd be better off using ntbackup.exe, part of every XP,
to back up your System State. That includes the registry and all supporting
files needed to boot the machine as of the time you made the snapshot. So
restoring a System State is going to return the OS to a time before you
installed the program. It won't delete the program's files & folders though;
you'll have to do that yourself, but you'd have to do that in any case.

If you do try to reverse the changes, be certain to first export every one
that you touch, just in case you have to put it back! Backing up the OS
would be a better solution though w/r to permanency.

HTH,

Twayne`

--------------------

well, registry is best left untouched.
From this 6 files added,I noticed the last one,
c:/windows\system32\VB6STKIT.DLL have original date [ Date: 3.26.1999
12:00 AM ] => so it not been added, seems?

Files added: 6
c:/windows\Setup1.exe
Date: 4.28.2010 2:24 PM
Size: 249 856 bytes
c:/windows\ST6UNST.EXE
Date: 4.28.2010 2:24 PM
Size: 73 216 bytes
c:/windows\Prefetch\PPINSTALLER.EXE-09A72E2C.pf
Date: 4.28.2010 2:24 PM
Size: 12 110 bytes
c:/windows\Prefetch\SETUP.EXE-0C08DF5B.pf
Date: 4.28.2010 2:24 PM
Size: 38 266 bytes
c:/windows\Prefetch\SETUP1.EXE-2A273B79.pf
Date: 4.28.2010 2:24 PM
Size: 17 536 bytes
c:/windows\system32\VB6STKIT.DLL
Date: 3.26.1999 12:00 AM
Size: 101 888 bytes
So, I can safely remove just the first 5 files, right?

Thanks.
