deleting files / freeing space

When I delete files by hilighting, pressing delete then emptying the recycle
bin ----- no space actually gets cleared up

When i delete by holding shift + delete ---- space does free up

I'm running: XP Home Version 2002 SP3
I'm not crazy or a newbie but am an MCTS and have never seen this before in
all my years

It sounds like your Recylce Bin is not truly emptying.

What is your partition structure?

What do you see inside C:/Recycler?

You don't say what you use to tell this with, but emptying the bin will in
fact bring back space. Your app isn't being updated, esp if it's win
Explorer. Close/Open or F5 should fix it.

C:/Recycler is for sure empty, although when you go to properties on it

--> 2 files, 1 folder, 85 bytes
