can't find file when trying to open IE8

When executing IE8, I get this error message:

Can't find file:///c:/Program%20files/AOL%20Toolbar/welcome.html. Make sure
the path or the Internet address is correct.

After acknowledging this error message, IE8 does open up but won't navigate
to the home page, it just shows this error again. If I hit the Home
button, it does indeed work and goes to the home page. I can navigate
anywhere I need to go, but just wondering how to correct this error on it's
execution?

Remove the AOL Toolbar, maybe?
Or when you already did that, reset the homepage to something that exists?

Always state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; WinXP 64-bit SP2;
Vista SP1; Vista 64-bit SP2; Win7; Win7 64-bit) as well as your IE version
when posting in an IE-specific forum or newsgroup. Please do so in your next
reply.

Any chance you just chose to install the AOL Optimized version of IE8?

Does the behavior persist after uninstalling AOL Toolbar?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
3. What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?
4. Has a(nother) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this
machine (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought
it)?
