I’m getting equipment ready to go over to the local Best Buy store. This should be the live stream feed.
Live streaming video by Ustream
Battery and notebook power are going to be a challenge. I’ll conserve power by only opening live streaming as something interesting happens.
In the meantime, Gearlog has some answers to questions regarding Best Buy and the sale of the iPad.
1.) Is there any sort of a preorder program for the iPad? Should interested customers simply line up ahead of time?
There is no preorder program, and we encourage customers to be at the store early, where tickets will be available for reserving purchase. Please check www.bestbuy.com/storelocator to determine your local store’s hours.
2.) iPads will be sold in how many Best Buy stores?
673 Best Buy stores with Apple Shops. (We have a total of 1,069 Best Buy stores in the U.S.)
3.) How many iPads will each store have, on average?
Can’t comment on inventory levels.
4.) Will there be any promotional bundles? Services? (Such as preloading apps?)
We’ll have a service plan available and are looking at other service support options for the future. The “invisishield” will be available for install from Best Buy Mobile, and a line-up of iPad accessories, including products from Apple, Zagg, Targus and Belkin will be ready at launch.
5.) Assuming that Best Buy sells out of its iPad stock on hand, when will stores receive followup restocking shipments?
Can’t comment on future re-stock plans.
I decided to leave Best Buy and get breakfast at Dennys.
