Photo diary in OneNote

I’ve been tinkering with a utility that imports photos into OneNote using OneNote’s CSimpleImporter interface. The program inserts a folder’s photos into a OneNote page so I can annotate and archive the pictures.

The page document metaphor in OneNote gives the photo collection an interesting twist. It has a photo diary feel about it.

OneNote’s collaboration feature adds another interesting possibility. I haven’t tried this out yet with the photos, but I can imagine importing a group of photos and then using OneNote’s page sharing feature to markup and collaborate over the photo collection with a remote person.

I’m still trying to figure out what the import program needs. So far it just imports a double-sized thumbnail of each photo and optionally the date. The program doesn’t provide photo rotation, partial selection of photos, display of other EXIF data, and so on.

Little utilities like this are fun.
