Speaker of the House Boehner Re-elected

John Boehner Tweet

Honored to have been elected by my colleagues to continue serving as Speaker of the House for the 113th Congress.

Representative John Boehner (R – OH) has been re-elected as the Speaker of the House. Mr. Boehner did not get the votes of some conservatives.

426 total votes:

Boehner: 220

Pelosi: 192

Cantor: 3

West: 2

Cooper: 2

And several votes for 1 of individuals as protest votes against Mr. Boehner.

Minnesota GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann voted at the last moments to stop a second ballot, something that hasn’t happened since 1923.
