Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 now supports inking controls in Internet Explorer. Inspired by Julia Lerman’s online Doodle program, I created this little test app. It’s built off of Arin Goldberg’s InkBlog sample application included in the Tablet PC SDK v1.7, in fact, you can see I left the drawing page called “AddBlog” :-).
Right now the app just lets you draw something and renders it to a file. I’m not focusing on text recognition here. I’m still trying to figure out how to best integrate in ink editing in the browser. Editing is an important part of any ink-based app.
In an amazing twist of timing, Larry O’Brien has an article released today that gets into the details of writing an ink-based web application. Wish I’d had this article when I was coding away. 🙂
