A Test of Leadership

The US Secretary of Education Margaret Spelling appointed Commission on the Future of Higher Education released its pre-publication report “A Test of Leadership: Charting the Future of U.S. Higher Education.”

Let’s be frank. … we have found … much that requires urgent reform. … A lot of other countries have followed our lead and they are now educating more of their citizens to more advanced levels than we are. Worse, they are passing us by at a time when education is more important to our collective prosperity than ever.

The report describes factual details, analyses, and conclusions that address the quality and quantity of K-12 schools, student preparation for post-secondary education, and performance of higher education institutions.

It’s worth the time for anyone interested in using mobile PCs in schools at least to read the preface and conclusions. You will probably find ways your Tablet PC or Ultra-Mobile PC will improve your competitive position among contemporary higher education participants, even if you are many decades old.
