windows search indexer

Using Windows XP and Office 2007

Have been using Windows Search Indexer successfully and love it. Now it
seems to be in disrepair. It is continually "waiting to receive indexing
status" and then I get an error message pop up that says "Microsoft Windows
Search Indexer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry
for the inconvenience."

That cycle has been repeating itself for 24 hours. Any idea what's going
on or how I can fix it?

Rebuild the Windows Search Index.

Step 1: Stop and disable the Indexing Service
- Click Start, click Run, type services.msc and click OK.
- In the right pane, double-click "Indexing Service".
- Set the "Startup type" to Disabled and stop the service.
- Click OK.

Step 2: Rebuild the Windows Search Index
- Open the Control Panel and double-click "Indexing Options".
- Click Advanced and click Rebuild.
- Click OK.

Then, restart the computer to test the issue.
