Smush.it is dead

Yahoo stopped supporting the Smush.it service last week. The creator of the program has a nice write up on the birth of the idea. He also provides some suggestions on other services.

For now, this site is using EWWW Image Optimizer. About 580 images were compressed last night by the WordPress plugin.

Ohhhh, Thanks for that link been using Smush,it for years and removed it from all sites last week when the update came through. Was going to do a bit of research for the next best thing so ill try out that one now.

Was thinking about kracken but as a paid service could be costly for the amount of sites i need it on.

Have to say im liking EWWW better than Smush , its ability to look outside of the uploads folders and optimise theme images too is a much needed feature. Gets my vote.
