windows has become corrupted. when i have attempted to reinstall windows the
set up screen tells me " the file cmdide.sys is corrupted. press any key to
continue". at the bottom of the screen it says " setup failed". do i need to
format the disc so that i can reinstall windows and if so, how do i do it?

thanks,

Sounds like your XP CD is borked. Use another computer to make a fresh
