I lost the ability to open I/E 7 it flashed up on screen and disapeared. I'm
with AOL as a ISP and think there may be a block put on M/S? any way I tried
to remove I/E 7 but there was no facility in add remove prog. I was able to
remove the security updates. The latter was done because I/E 8 stated that it
could not proceed as there was another prog. stopping the installation.
Following the removal of the 7 udpadets I/E 8 went through the instalation
procedure. It called for a restart following which there is no sign of it
anywhere. but I/E 7 has added another pair of updates.
Any sujestions please.

Always state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; WinXP 64-bit SP2;
Vista SP1; Vista 64-bit SP2; Win7; Win7 64-bit) when posting in a forum or
newsgroup. Please do so in your next reply.

Assuming WinXP SP3, which was installed first, IE7 or SP3?

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)? Were any of these applications running
in the background when you installed IE7, IE8, and/or SP3?

Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the
computer (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought
it)?
