I just installed IE8 and have used IE6 very happily up until now. IE8 is
quite a bit slower than IE6 and even though on the View menu I have unclicked
the Favorites Bar, the Favorites "star" icon remains, along with a whole
screen of gray, wasted space. NO, I do NOT like tabs and have turned them
off. I will NEVER use them. And I do NOT like the window frame that opens
on the left side for Favorites. Will NEVER use it and am happy with the
Favorites button on the STANDARD Menu bar. MS had a good idea with pull down
menus and I see NO reason to use anything else. IE8 is going the way of
Office 2007. Less useability and flexibility and almost NO ability to tailor
it for your needs. And has anyone tried to load a simple spreadsheet in
Office 2007? It must take 5 minutes If it ain't broke, no reason to fix
it. Don't change good software just for the sake of change.
Anyway, I just need to know how to remove the Favorites icon and bar and I
will be a happy camper once more.
