Faulting application name: iexplore.exe In Windows 2008 Server R2

I am not certain why I keep getting this exception message. In fact I get a
pop up most each time I try to access or connect using IE. Did a bit of
searching, and have not found a good fix for this yet.

I am running a Windows Server 2008 64bit machine. I tried blaming it on IE
add-ons, but now I am running in NO-ADDON mode with no add-ons but the
problem persists.I would appreciate it if someone helped with with a fix for
this on my server.

Does the behavior persist if you Reset IE Advanced settings (RIES)?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Reset-Internet-Explorer-settings

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?

Has a(nother) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this
machine?

Re: Faulting application name: iexplore.exe In Windows 2008 Server

Resetting IE does not work for me. I tried that already and also opening in
NO-addon mode which is what I continue to use but with no success.

I recently installed Avast fearing it might be some malware causing the
problem but that has not fixed the problem. I don't have Norton or McCafee
installed on my machine. I did a clean install( installed over the old OS)
about 3 times already, each time hoping the problem would go away but no
success there.

Below is the problem detail from one of the popups that keeps showing up.

Yes. the machine was not connected until after Avast was installed. And no,
it is not the free version but the server version of Avast that is installed.

Anyone have any solutions to this problem?
