Bank bailouts are not over. Spain is expected to reverse an earlier decision not to bailout banks - and Bankia is expected to receive billions of euros of public money. The prime minister of Spain, Mariano Rajoy, said in an interview he would not rule out injecting public funds.
Maybe it's time for Spain's government officials to admit their approach isn't working. If banks continue to suffer or be weak then maybe they should perish.
Here is a different idea: Provide this same money to the public. Pour billions of euros into each individual. Guess what will happen? People will spend !
Oh well. A person can at least dream.
