Senate Bill: Big Immigation Law Changes Since 1986

The Gang of Eight managed to get 14 republican senators to vote in favor of a new set of immigration laws. The new laws would allow over 11 million people already in the U.S. to become citizens, overhaul the immigration system and allocate billions to secure the southwest border with Mexico.

As expected, Republican leaders in the House of Representatives said they will not the bring the bill up for a vote. John Boehner, R-Ohio, said that his chamber “We’re going to do our own bill through regular order, and it will be legislation that reflects the will of our majority and the will of the American people.”
