Here is some information I found through web search...
The Intel Xeon 7500 series processors represent the next generation scalable Xeon processors. It features eight cores and will support 16 threads and 24 MB of cache. The new processor series offers up to nine times improvement in memory bandwidth over the Xeon 7400.The Intel Xeon 7500 series adds over 20+ new reliability, availability and serviceability (RAS) features. An example is the Machine Check Architecture (MCA) Recovery, providing a server with a much greater chance of recovering from uncorrectable errors, providing a significant reliability improvement. The Windows Hardware Error Architecture has been enhanced to support MCA-R on Intel Xeon platforms.
Together with new levels of performance and reliability, the Intel Xeon 7500 series together with Windows Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008 R2 should speed the move away from more expensive, proprietary RISC-processor based systems and deliver new exciting opportunities for large scale server consolidation.
