Michael Arrington: Large iPod Touch to appear in Fall 2009

Michael Arrington stokes the Apple Tablet rumors by relaying rumors that people have been seeing with largish iPod Touches around the Apple camp. This could possibly be the Apple “Tablet” we’ve been looking for: Something akin to the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch form factor, yet larger.

Of course we only have rumors at this point and we’ve got all those thousands of iPod Touch/iPhone apps that probably won’t scale well to other screen resolutions and device capabilities, but hmmm, this sounds promising.

To me a device like this would compete most heavily with Intel’s MIDs. In fact, the suggested Fall timing is quite interesting. That’s my guess when MIDs will be in full swing. It makes sense that a device from Apple that competes in the same category would appear at about the same time. After all, everyone is pretty much drawing from the same bag of parts to build these devices and it looks like timewise the components are becoming viable about at this time.

Is it yet another Apple rumor that won’t pan out? Your guess is as good as mine.
