CNet covers launch of Samsung Q1 Ultra

CNet has some details about Samsung’s announcement of the Q1 Ultra UMPC.

According to the article, the Q1 Ultra will come in four flavors. The first one to hit the market (called the Ultra-V) will be available in a couple weeks and will retail for $1199. A lower-end $799 unit will follow later (called the Q1 Ultra-EL).

What does the extra $400 get you? The Ultra-V offers a faster A110 Processor (800MHz) vs the A100 (600MHz) in the Ultra-EL. Similarly, the Ultra-V boasts a 60GB hard drive as compared to a 40GB in the Ultra-EL. In addition, the Ultra-V has an SD/MMC slot which the Ultra-EL does not and the EL does not have a the pair of webcams nor a biometric fingerprint scanner in the Ultra V. And, of course, the Ultra V will be on store shelves ahead of the EL. Is the difference worth $400? Depends on what you’re looking for and whether you want it now or later.
