From DG Daily: “Via is taking the segment [UMPCs] seriously and if first to offer a single-chipset solution – a package that combines northbridge and southbridge – that is targeted for use in UMPCs.”
Engadget takes the Sony UX180P for a spin: “Despite its flaws, the UX is likely still the best thing going for ultimately portable computing, leaving the UMPC crowd and the venerable OQO in its dust.” Unfortunately, Engadget didn’t test one of the most important features of the UX180P in my mind: The Edge modem support. Small devices like this need to be connected. The UMPC falls into that category too. In my book, the smaller and mobile the device, the truer this becomes.
