I’m still feeling a little bit under the weather so rather than doing some new coding today I thought I’d take a couple of minutes to share some of what we’ve been working on in past days.
Below are some screenshots of our new activity book viewer. The “application” can display a variety of content, such as crossword puzzles, letter tracing exercises, math problems, word puzzles, and so on. The specific content can be downloaded in book form. We’ll provide the initial content, but we expect that people will want to create their own books based on the components we provide. You can create a book of all math problems or crossword puzzles geared around history events or whatever.
Like a book, the content is organized into pages yet unlike some eBook readers, the content is both “live” and is “fixed.” It’s live in that you can interact with the content. The viewer can give the person using the book feedback as to whether their answer is correct or not as they work through a problem using a stylus, touch, or keyboard. Conversely the content is “fixed.” By this we mean that whatever is on page 1, stays on page 1. Same with all the content. There’s no reflowing of pages and confusion about where the content is. Everyone that opens a specific book will see the same content in the same way.
There’s lots more to share about this new activity book platform, but for now I hope a few screenshots will do.
Update: For the developers in the crowd, yes, the activity book viewer leverages WPF to a large extent.
[…] In a related move, Adobe also announced that they’ve added Flash to Acrobat. Hmmm. I’m going to have to think a little more about my workbook apps. […]
