Don Dodge blogs about some new hardware from Microsoft, including the LifeCam NX-6000, a 2.0 megapixel notebook camera.
The specs on the camera look good:
* 2.0 Megapixel Video (lower resolution in IM apps and without USB 2.0)
* 7.6 Megapixel Still Photos
* Built-in Microphone
* 71 degree wide angle lens
* 3X Digital Zoom
* Optimized for Windows Live Messenger
* Optimized for notebook mobility
* Pan and tilt
All of this sounds great. I am a bit disappointed though. Why? The camera has a tail. It has a cable that strings from the base of the camera to the USB connector. On a Tablet PC I don’t want that–or at least I want to be able to remove the USB cable. I want to be able to snap the camera directly into a USB port so I can take pictures while in Tablet mode.
I’m still eager to try out the camera though. Online the price is a little under $80. Not bad.
