Toshiba’s mechanical volume control rules

One more reason why I absolutely love the volume control dial on my Toshiba M400 Tablet PC.

Why do I like the volume control dial on the Toshiba M200 and M400 Tablet PCs so much? Sometimes when I boot up, I don’t want any sound at all. I might be in a meeting, working in the middle of the night and not wanting to wake up anyone else, or sitting in a class a Desert Code Camp. If I leave the sound on accidentally on my Tablet, there’s not much faster than spinning the wheel on the volume control to almost instantly null out the noise.

As a Skype and voice-chat IM user, a mechanical volume control is also an extremely welcome feature too. I can tweak the volume just right to avoid feedback or easily crank up the volume if the person on the other end has inched away from their microphone.

I wish more computer manufacturers would include real, volume dials like Toshiba does.
