Now that I demonstrated to myself that the iMac can run the Tablet PC OS, what else is there to do with it? 🙂
For part of this answer, you’ll have to stay tuned.
On the developer side though, I wondered, am I missing anything? I pondered, for instance, if I could port InkGestures over to Word for Mac. (Yes, I know ink isn’t supported on the Mac.) Actually, this is a hard question to answer–at least for me. Why? Because it’s hard to find much information at all on writing add-ins for Word on the Mac. There’s a huge difference between the volume of developer community info on the Windows side and the Mac side. Even MSDN doesn’t seem to have much Mac info. Try as I might, I could only Google a little info. The most useful piece of info came from this MVP site.
Basically, it says that Word for Mac supports a subset of VBA and, if I understand this correctly, the way you figure out what works is to try it. That sounds like fun.
Anyway, for a couple minutes I dreamed about what it would be like if the .NET framework was supported on the Mac too and that you could write add-ins for Windows and the Mac with it. That would be interesting. It sure would be a nice competitive challenge to some of the Web 2.0/browser-based editing thinking that’s going on now.
And then there’s ink. I wish the ink API (not necessarily the code), was more universal so that we could write to it in any browser, on the Mac, or on Linux. That would change the world.
Then I woke up and got back to developing on my Toshiba M400 Tablet PC.
