Security asks: Is that a computer?

While going through airport security this morning, my carry-on items were held up by the x-ray operator. She called over to another inspector and asked for some help: “Is this a computer?”

It was. It was my Gateway M280 Tablet PC.

Now as a Tablet enthusiast, if I wasn’t so familiar with the question, I would have simply forgotten this as a non-interesting, passing moment.

However, a minute later, Bob’s items were held up too (which also included an M280) and the x-ray operator exlaimed: “Here’s another one. I’ve never seen two computers like this before.”

Hehehe. I’m sure she wasn’t pointing out the fact that they were Tablet PCs, but then again maybe she picked up the pen or the battery. I’m not sure.

A side note: The Toshiba M200 that was also in our carry-on items didn’t draw any mention at all. I guess it’s too common.
