Nokia 770 grabs net attention

One of the valuable parts or writing a blog is that you can see what people are the most interested in by virtue of what they are clicking on.

What’s one of the hottest items right now? The very “I’m-ready-for-business-looking” Nokia 770.

Nokia is marketing this 8oz, 5.5 x 3.1″ little gadget as an “Internet Tablet.” What’s so cool about it is that it has GPRS, WiFi, a bunch of apps (running on Linux), and a writable surface with handwriting reco built in. Here are some more specs for the Nokia 770.

I’m very curious to see what the display is like. The specs say 800×480. So it’s a small wide screen display in which many web pages should fit OK, although it’ll be tight.

And as I sit here reading the specs, trying to decide if I should order one now or tomorrow (actually I’ll hold out for a little longer), I can’t help but realize how impressive cohesive packages appear at first sight. This gadget is nicely packaged with a great collection of apps.

Of course, as a developer I’m wondering what possibilities there are here. It may be a “sealed” unit. Standard PDAs enhanced with phone capabilities may be more open and may offer a better path for both developers and consumers.

This is going to be very interesting to see how this unfolds.
