Are small handtops the next big thing in Tablets?

HPClean has a closeup picture of the five inch “Tablet” discussed in Paul Otellini’s Keynote at the Intel Developer Forum this week.

Intel is calling these “handtops.” Key features are all day battery life and a full version of Vista running under its hood. I hope it can also have instant on :-).

Actually, I’m not sure if these handtops would qualify as Tablets or not, but either way the size could make a very compelling day to day digital companion.

I have some photographer friends for instance that would like to have a good way to store and check their image collection on the go. This might be a good match–as long as the cost is not too high.

By the way, this is just a prototype design. It’s not real. I did, though, really like the idea of the slide out thumb keyboard. Great idea.

So cute. I want one.
