What’s that? A Tablet PC?

Has anyone else noticed the number of people that have at least heard of a Tablet PC? Sure, there are still many people that haven’t tried one. But at least they know about them.

There was a time early on when few people had even heard of a Tablet. Times are changing–at least in the tech savvy crowd.

At the last couple large industry events I’ve been at, I’ve been struck by the number of people that know about Tablets. Admittedly, these were events attended by large Microsoft-aware customers, but the word has gotten out.

What has really woken me up to this fact is that when talking to people about how I use Tablets, I often mention Skype. I’ve been noticing how many people know about Tablets, but haven’t heard of Skype. This has surprised me. I think of Skype as being an amazingly popular app–on par with the iPod. In fact, for me, it’s one of my favorite programs to use on a Tablet PC.

Now the word needs to get out that the Tablet PC isn’t just a computer that can recognize handwriting.
