A Nokia Tablet?

Lots of online chatter about Nokia’s 770 “Tablet.” No, it’s not a Tablet PC, but it’s a handheld companion with similar usage scenarios.

A few years ago, I bet the Nokia 770 would have been called a PDA or an “assistant.” Interesting that Nokia chose the “Tablet” moniker. Does this mean “tablets” are “in” now?

It’s looking more and more like this is the case.

Have you noticed how many online and broadcast ads use ink effects? And here, Nokia is borrowing upon the Tablet’s popularity in reading and web surfing.

  1. I wouldn’t say Tablets are “in”. I think the problem is more than PDA’s are being cast in a negative light these days in favor of “smart” phones and other type-input-only devices.

Don’t know if you’ll ever see tablets be “in” but that doesn’t necessarily mean it isn’t succeeding. I don’t know that mainstream interest is necessary to succeed.
